| Dear Friends, This week's quote is from the spiritual awareness class CC 164, which was published in Volume 6 of The Living Light Dialogue. This class was given on January 5, 1978.
"And remember, as you go out in your new year of '78, the vibrations of the fullness of God are everywhere. There is so much in this year of '78. There is so much fullness. The vibrations are the best. But you must, within your minds, accept that possibility, for all of your experiences to this moment are in keeping with the Law of Acceptance, limited by choice, controlled by judgment, and doomed to disaster just prior to their fulfillment. And you ask, Why they are doomed to disaster? Because, my friends, there is no unity. There is only division. Unite. Unite within.
The sun is rising o'er the horizon for those of you who have demonstrated their interest, for though it may, at times, have been difficult for your minds, you have continued on.
As a teacher, I am always grateful for a student. I have not, nor am I concerned with how many, for the blessing of return is ever in keeping with the original motivation. And I assure you, my friends, I am motivated to share that you may be free from the centuries that my mind demanded I experience in yesteryear. I do not view them in regret, though they still remain, in memory par excellence, painful to me. But it was in keeping with my evolution that it should take me so long to learn my lessons in life. No greater blessing could return to any teacher, once having learned a lesson or two, than to share it with a student that they may, through their efforts, be freed from those particular lessons. My greatest failing was my judgments. And such a failing it was that I chose that profession. And the centuries helped to awaken within me my reason for my choice.
All of these things that you view in creation are in that constant process of birth and death. But, as you know, you are not birth and you are not death. Only your thoughts, which are form, are birth and death. Hold not to thoughts and forms, for it is the path of pain and pleasure. My good friends, joy is far greater than pleasure. Reason is far brighter than pain.
Move onward in this your new year. Move above and beyond pain and pleasure. Move into realms of reason and realms of joy.
I sometimes consider working in a more consistent way with each of you who are demonstrating your efforts to apply. And perhaps in your rather not too distant future that possibility shall come to be, for I well remember, in my past experiences, when I had merited a teacher. And I know the great value of daily effort. I know the great value of constant exposure to the light of reason. I also know that it's so very easy to slip, so to speak, unless there's someone that cares enough to make the daily effort to help us. And so it has been now my sincere prayer for some time that that possibility may come for the few who really care about the possibility of a better life.

The centuries that the teacher refers to are the centuries that he spent growing through his lessons in realms that he merited, by laws he had established, after he had passed from this world. Some of those realms were indeed difficult and he shared part of his journey in the classes of Volume 5.
Regardless of our situation, we all have reason to be encouraged. No effort to affirm the goodness that we are is ever lost. May the new year bring goodness, ever in keeping with our efforts to accept the possibility of something better, something greater, ever free from the dictates of mental substance.
