Dear Friends, This week's quote is from the spiritual awareness class CC 159, which was published in Volume 6 of The Living Light Dialogue.
"It is the will of the divine that holds all things in space. It is the will of the divine that sustains any thought that we choose to entertain in our mind. We are constantly making the choice. Our God is a great God, for our God sustains whatever we choose to think. Think of that, my students. How impartial! What a great servant is ever, ever with us, around us, and about us. No matter what we choose to think or to do, this intelligent energy sustains and supports our endeavors. Therefore, it is not God, this intelligence, that fails. It is not God that moves us. It is God that sustains whatever we choose to do. If you choose to entertain negative and self-destructive thoughts, this God of the universes will sustain your right to that negative, self-destructive thought. Do not pray to God to be free from your negativity. Simply pause in your thinking and become aware of how negative and how often you entertain those thoughts. We look around the world and we see, percentage-wise, that over 96 percent of all thoughts permeating from the earth realm are negative. And we must ask ourselves the question, Why are so many minds broadcasting negative thoughts? Think of that, my good students. Why, why does it seem to be easier to entertain a negative thought in reference to anything than to entertain a positive thought? Without judgment, there is no negative thought. And so you can trace this chain of events of negativity and you can see the more negative, the more judgment; the more judgment, the more pride; the more pride, the more over-identification with what is called self. If we want to be free, then someday we shall have to give the greatest gift of all to the Divine: the gift of self. And when we stop and look at what we think self is, we see a form that's in a constant process of birth and death, we see thoughts rise and express and die, and we see patterns of mind fighting tooth and nail to hold onto their existence. That, my friends, is what the self looks like: a suffering entity, unwilling to change. Time and time again, we have spoken to you, be ever ready and willing to change. How do we become ready to change? From whence cometh the willingness to change? To be ready to change is to be free from judgment. Think of that, my students. If you find yourself having difficulties in making changes in your life, then you have to look at what the cause is: the judgments sit firm and will not move. But they shall move, for the Law of Evolution is inevitable. They shall move and they shall change. But that is not you. Separate that true you from all of those created forms, from all of the rigidity. Separate your true being from that. The mind looks out and it questions and it wonders and it rises with its fear: "What shall tomorrow be? From whence cometh my sustenance?" If we have spent our lives and taken pride in what is known as self-reliance, then our fears are very great. Look at each moment and each experience for the goodness that is being offered to you. Look at the kindness that is all around and about you. You are never alone. If you think you are, then you have closed the door on the multitude of souls ever waiting to help you to encourage you to inspire you to be a doer, to move in the world, to enjoy the world, for it is indeed your birthright to do so." One of the ways of becoming more aware of our thoughts (and how often they are negative) is to make the effort to say affirmations. In the process of flooding our consciousness with spiritual affirmations we will become more aware of our own thoughts, which we may not now be consciously aware of. As we become more aware, we begin to choose more wisely which thoughts we wish to entertain and where we choose to direct the intelligent energy of our being. We begin to exercise more self-control, the effect of which is freedom. There is a vast difference between self and what we are in truth. As I understand these teachings, self is everything that we believe that we are and truth is what we are.
