"A successful life is a life that is harmoniously in the eternal stream of consciousness, ever changing, ever growing, ever prospering. When we think that we are not successful or prosperous in any endeavor that we have chosen in life, we can be rest assured that we are holding to the decaying process. Therefore, we are not receptive, nor can we see, that which is being born. When we view the night, we think we do not see the light, but what we see in truth is a lesser light. And if we are grateful for the crumb of a lesser light, then we guarantee, through the Law of Gratitude, the greater light. But if our needs are such that we must have the greater light and we do not have the patience for the natural process of birth and growth of the lesser light, that greater light will ever elude us, for we stand in the midst of it and, therefore, we cannot see.


In this new year, it will be as prosperous, it will be as abundant, it will be as good as you alone choose to accept it in your thought. If you find difficulty in accepting the principle of success, it simply reveals to you, as a personal demonstration, that you are not yet ready, willing, nor able to let go of that which has passed. And because we, perhaps at times, are not willing to let go to that which has served its purpose in our evolution, we do not move forward and cannot see the greatness and the beauty of life that is here and now."

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into clutter

“Could you talk a little bit on organization and how it affects the way we think and how it affects us in our everyday activities?


Thank you very much. The student has asked, perhaps, for some discussion on organization and how it affects our lives in our day-to-day activities. And first, I think it might be beneficial to the class, perhaps, to become aware of organization. How does one become aware, personally aware, whether or not they’re organized or they’re disorganized? And actually, really it’s very clear, because Life herself is telling us every moment of every hour how organized we really are. Now, we have stated repeatedly that the people that are attracted into our lives are the mirrors reflecting the level of consciousness that we are expressing.


All right. Now, our abodes, where we live, whether or not our things are cluttered all over our homes, whether each thing has a place and a place for all things, reveals to us in an instant how organized our mind is. Because, you see, those things represent our level of consciousness. Now, if you take a situation where you can hardly get through the door of a person’s house because of the clutter and because of the upset, then you can tell the person—you don’t have to meet the person—you can tell from the mirror of clutter how organized their mind really is.


Now, we must realize that we have different levels of consciousness and we may be organized on some levels of consciousness, but not organized on other levels of consciousness. Now, living in a clutter does not mean that the person is disorganized on all levels of consciousness. But it does mean that they are disorganized on the personal level of consciousness. Because, you see, the room, the house, the apartment, or whatever we live in, is our personal vibration. It is not our work vibration. It is not our basic business vibration. It is our personal life vibration. And clutter in our personal life, such as a home, reveals the turmoil and the upset of our personal emotions, you see. And I hope that’s helped the class with an understanding of organization on that level."

“I would like to heal myself of attitudes and response patterns that are a result of past conditioning. Can you please explain what I can do to make a break from the old and renew my spirit each day?


To do so each day, to renew one’s spirit each day, one declares, “This is the moment that I can do everything with. This moment is the moment through which power flows through my being.” And to make great effort, moment by moment, to remain in the eternal moment known as the present, for we are constantly hounded with shadows of that which has passed. A person truly wastes precious moments by permitting their minds to identify with judgments which only offer a drain of one’s vital energy to shadows, to forms that have been, that can do nothing that is constructive to the good of the moment. And so anyone who makes that effort to declare, “This is the moment. This is the moment I can think as I choose. I don’t have a temptation in me now to think of what has gone. I can do nothing with that. But here, in this moment, I can do everything, for in this moment the power flows.” Choose wisely what you do with the power you are receptive to. Use it constructively. Creating forms is the nature of the human mind and mental substance; then create forms that are constructive, that can do something in the eternal moment of now."

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into our thoughts

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CQA 30, which can be found in Volume 11 of The Living Light Dialogue and will be published next month.

 


“You see, it’s not so easy to change our thought. And why isn’t it easy to change our thought? The number one error: we believe the thought is us. But we’ve already lived so much of our life knowing, “These thoughts couldn’t possibly be me. Well, if they are, they should send me up to one of those places to take care of me. I couldn’t possibly be this kind of a person. Changing every time I turn around. Never knowing what I want or I don’t want. And if I think I do know what I want, it’s changing moment by moment, week by week, day by day.” When we’re honest enough with our self, we very quickly see that it’s really a delusion to believe that we are the thought that’s passing through our mind. Because most of the thoughts that pass through our mind, if we’re honest with our self, we would not permit our self to be so embarrassed to admit that they’re ours, let alone that they are us. So we know very well, first off, we are not the thought.


And when we know we are not the thought and when we understand how thoughts rise in consciousness, then we start to gain control over our thoughts. We become consciously, moment by moment, aware and we choose thoughts and we see that they are the seeds establishing the law unto our self. And we take a look at them and then we watch them go out into the universe. And we take a look and we see what they bring us back. Then we start choosing thoughts, thought patterns, attitudes of mind, rates of vibration that bring us back the good that we all seek in life. And when any of those other thoughts rise up, we have enough value for the good in life that we are experiencing, well, at least a little of it, that we move those out of consciousness immediately!“

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: What keeps us where we are

 

 

Dear Friends,

“Each time you make the effort to change your attitude, you experience the struggle and return to the patterns of old.


And yet you know that you are stronger than that which you have created. But you cannot help, in the light of reason, to ask yourself the honest question, “I desire to have new, more beneficial experiences. And yet I continue to experience the things of yesterday which I find are not beneficial for me.” That shows you, my students, that the attitude, you have yet to change.


What is it that keeps you from a state of constant prayer? What is it that keeps you from flooding your consciousness with peace? What is it that keeps pulling you down into realms of poverty, of lack, of limitation, of discord and disturbance, of poor health and all of those effects? It is not God. It is not spirits. It is attitude of mind.


When an affirmation is given to you to help flood your consciousness to bring about new experiences that are beneficial and beautiful, I find one, sometimes two, of my students make the effort for a few days—some even for a couple of weeks. What keeps you from the Law of Continuity when you know beyond a shadow of any doubt that it will reap a good harvest for you? It is the patterns of old, the attitudes of yesterday. They still rule. But their days are numbered, for they are created forms and, knowing birth and death, they cannot rule forever and ever.“

“Now tolerance, surely, we will all agree, is the effect, the effect of understanding. The moment we understand something, we have no problem with tolerance at all, because we understand it. And the reason that we have no problem with tolerance the moment we understand it is because man cannot entertain judgment with anything that he truly understands. When you understand, there is no judgment. But how does man gain understanding? Surely, we agree we cannot experience understanding unless we have some degree of communication. We cannot understand our many different attitudes and feelings and thoughts and levels of consciousness if we don’t communicate with them. And if we don’t communicate with them, we cannot understand them. If we cannot understand them, we certainly cannot tolerate them. We all know that we do things, and after we’ve done them, we don’t understand why we did them. Well, we would understand why we did them if we had communicated with those different motivations that are within our self. So here we go again, of course, in the universe right back to our self."

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Gratitude and ingratitude

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CC 49, which was published in Volume 3 of The Living Light Dialogue. It begins with a question from a student.

 


“Would you, within the context of this understanding, explain the difference between "generosity" and "givingness"? I also recall that at one time, I think, you said that givingness is the principle through which the Divine flows. Also, consideration was mentioned as the principle. Could you clarify the difference between this and gratitude as opening the door to supply?


Thank you. And the lady has asked several questions, including generosity, givingness, gratitude, compassion, and the door to supply. When a person is truly grateful, they emanate a rate of vibration. And that rate of vibration goes out into the atmosphere and brings its kind back. Now, for example, we understand that God, the Divine, is not a master, but is the greatest servant of all. And a servant, in our understanding, is one who serves. And gratitude is an expression for a service rendered. So when a person is truly grateful, they are expressing their recognition and their acceptance for the service that they have received. Therefore, they guarantee a continuity of that service.


Now, what happens when a man is ungrateful? Now one of the easiest ways to recognize ingratitude is complaining. If you have a person that is constantly griping and complaining— that this isn’t being done and that isn’t being done and why is this being done and why isn’t that being done and I can’t accept that without a full explanation first. That level of consciousness, whenever we express it—because the level exists in all of us—that level of consciousness is a level of ingratitude. Therefore, you will notice with people who complain and cry the most, they’re the ones that seem to have the most difficulty with God’s divine, abundant supply, you see. All right. So that is our understanding of gratitude. Now, gratitude isn’t something where you say, “Well, now, thank you, God. I’m very grateful,” then you complain about something, because, you see, that’s contradiction. And a house divided cannot stand. That’s our own house: it cannot stand. So doors open through an expression of gratitude.


Now, what does that have to do with givingness and generosity? A man may be generous for many, many varied motivations, but a man in givingness is in God. And that is the basic difference. I do hope that’s helped with your question.”

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into precognition

“Why do we sometimes have precognitive experiences when it seems that we cannot do anything about them, the ones that are seemingly of illness or accidents?


The question on precognitive experiences is most important in how we view it. A person says that, “I have an awareness of an illness yet to befall an individual. I have an awareness of a seeming so-called accident to take place and, yet, I cannot speak to the person, nor do anything about it.” To permit the mind to decide that it cannot do anything about anything is to bind the eternal being to the limitation of the mental sphere and planes of consciousness.


What can man, in truth, do about experiences that are to take place for another soul without directly, in the mental realms, speaking or trying to divert the experience when that door is not opened to him? My good students, we have often spoken on the universality of consciousness. For the truth is the truth. We are one mind. We are one consciousness. We are an inseparable part of one consciousness.


When we make the effort to surrender the multitude of identities that we entertain in mind stuff, our soul will rise above the limitations of form and we will experience our formless, free being. In so experiencing this true being, free, above and beyond all bondage, wants, needs, and desires, when we truly experience that level of consciousness known as the universal mind, we will look at all form, including our own, and we will know beyond any doubts that we are, in truth, the oneness and the wholeness of everything. At that moment and from that level of consciousness, we are free to choose and to identify with anything that exists in any dimension. And through this Law of Identity we may become the instruments of lifting a human soul to higher levels of consciousness. And in that way, we can be the free instruments for the goodness of God.”

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into emotion

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CQA 38, which will be published very soon in Volume 11 of The Living Light Dialogue. The quote begins with a question from a student.

 


“How can we become less emotional?

 

One becomes less emotional through less identification with the self. The more we think of our self, the more emotional we become. You see, we must someday accept scientific fact: in the human mind, through its process of evolution, is what is known as the primitive mind. So we study the lizard to see how it reacts and then we know a little more about our own emotions. And we study the various animals and we learn a little bit more about our aggressions and all of those different types of things. Then we make a reasonable decision—remember, the soul faculty of reason only expresses through the conscious mind; it is not something that reacts from the depths of our subconscious. So the less we identify with the thought of I, then we become more identified with the I that we are and we’re not as emotional.


What is emotion? Emotions are levels of consciousness that rise up to protect themselves; they feel threatened. Man is always threatened because man insists on being emotional. A non-emotional person is not threatened. You cannot threaten that which is, for that which is has always been and shall ever be. It is only that which you think is that can be threatened. If you think that this is the only life you will ever know, then you walk around in great fear. You never know, because it’s constantly being threatened. And if you think the judgment that you have is right, absolutely and positively, and the next step you believe that you are that judgment (you believe that’s you), then you walk around the universe threatened and one lives in fear.


You see, fear is mental substance—the human’s mind control over the eternal being. So when man is experiencing fear, man is expressing his emotions and constantly on guard, constantly working to defend himself, to protect himself. Truth needs no defense because truth just is. Crushed to earth, it constantly rises again. So if we want to be less emotional, more reasonable, therefore successful in life, then we must make the effort to stop over-identifying with the self, which offers to us only emotional reaction to everything to protect itself."

“In personal relationships I have noticed that husbands seem to become so critical of their mate’s flaws and vice versa of wives to their husband’s. Why is this?


Over-identification. You see, when you permit yourself attachment, the effect of over-identification, after a period of time of the attachment or over-identification, the self rises up to express in a little different way. And in order to continue to feel its self-importance after the conquest has been made, it must see the weakness, the frailties, and the flaws of the one that it has judged that it has conquered, through, of course, attachment. And so it is a natural process of the human mind, in order to maintain and to sustain its glory of self-importance after the conquest is complete, to find the weaknesses and the flaws of that which is attached to them in order that they may continue to experience the glory of self-importance and superiority.

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into why some people mistreat their spouse

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class A/V Seminar 8, which will be published in Volume 12 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 


“Why do some husbands treat their wives rudely, even viciously, and why do some wives do the same thing to their husbands?"


"They are insecure. They’re insecure and they lack understanding of why they’re insecure. You see, the soul is expressing itself through the limits of the human mind, which frequently, of course, is servicing judgments or past experiences. And whoever permits themselves to over-identify with their mind experiences the feelings, the thoughts, and the judgments that they’ve been unjustly treated. A child in the early, formative years, if effort is not made to guide them, they feel emotionally that they are unjustly treated for the effort has not been made to guide them, to communicate with them. And the child grows up and has this resentment in the mind that he has been mistreated. And so whenever he comes up against an experience as an adult with another person and there is any similarity and there is any connection in the consciousness that triggers that old experience in his early childhood, then they act, what you would say, rudely and not kindly to the person.


Now try to understand, those who, in our ignorance, we permit ourselves to become attached to—remember, we attach ourselves to the mirrors that best reflect the fulfillment of our denials, which we experience as needs. So a person can understand their denials from their attachments. One does not attach oneself to another unless the other reflects to them the fulfillment of their own denials, known as needs. So one finds themselves in life, in experience, dependent upon another person for they experience a fulfillment of what they have denied for themselves. That creates an attachment. And once the attachment is established, then, after a period of time, the person awakens that someone else is beginning to order their life and tell them what to do. So, you see, it works both ways. Here you have two people who have denied what they are and have found another person (each other) reflecting a fulfillment of their own denials. And, of course, two halves are never so perfect they make a whole, when a person is whole in the first place."

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: A little or a lot

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CQA 39, which will soon be published in Volume 11 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 


“The Law of Denial is the Law of Destiny; they are inseparable. So when man says, “I need this and I need that and I need something else,” he is expressing the Law of Denial and is destined to the continuity of the experience.


We say, “We have just a little of this.” And we keep saying that and we perpetuate the law of little. So, ten years pass; it’s a little bit less. Another ten, it’s almost gone. And we never stop to think about the Law of Personal Responsibility, that the only thing we spent our twenty years in that time doing is telling our self how little that we had. Until finally we prove, beyond a shadow of any doubt, how right we are! You see, my friends, little or much has less value to our consciousness than how right we are. So if we say we have a little of anything, the higher priority to our consciousness is to prove unto our self how right we are. I’ve yet to find an ego that loved to be wrong. So we must understand the Law of Self-Identification. Little and lot is ever dependent upon the insistence of our own mind to continue to broadcast the frequency or rate of vibration through which these experiences will take place within our consciousness.


Now if we’re at other levels of consciousness, we look out and say, “Well, I didn’t get the chance that someone else had. I didn’t get this and I didn’t get that. And I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I wasn’t even born with a gold one.” And all of the justifications. When you look at another and you see how—what you think—how well and how good they are doing in anything, what you are telling yourself is simply this, “What a lucky person they are.” And then you justify how lucky they are. Well, we all know what luck is. It’s simply a loser’s excuse for a winner’s expression, isn’t it? That’s all that luck is. We justify our laziness. So in that sense, we’ve done a wonderful job! We have directed this great Power—infinite, intelligent, and neutral—to lying around like the toads! Well, if we were supposed to be a toad, our soul would have evolved into a toad form and not into a human form.


So the first thing to do on the path of freedom is to stand upon the rock of principle, known as personal responsibility—the ability to personally respond to all your thoughts, acts, and deeds within your own consciousness, where you have power. Therefore, not to look outside to see how easy it is for someone else, because each time you look outside to see how somebody else is doing, you direct this great Power, this energy, to that person and they get boosted even higher on the ladder. And you go down even deeper because you see them again and they’re doing even better. So that energy that you are receptive to, the effect thereof, is how you channel it. If you want to channel this neutral, intelligent, infinite Power, known as God, to a greater abundance of good, then you must use the law that brings the greater abundance of good into your consciousness. And the use of that law is totally dependent upon your ability to gain control over your mind: so you will not lust for what you judge someone else has, that you now judge that you don’t have, but that you do need. That’s known as growing up. So when we grow up, we’re going to see how great our life really is!”

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into gaining understanding

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from class CL 26, which was published in Volume 9 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 


“And so it is, in all our getting, we seek to get understanding. Not understanding of people and things in a world of experience, but understanding of our own divinity. But that understanding is not something that you’re going to gain from reading a book or talking to another person. It is something that you are going to awaken to when you make the effort to find God.


I know that the word "God" is not readily accepted in the materialistic age in which we are living. And it is indeed, at least to me, understandable why, in this world today, the word "God" seems to repulse so many. My friends, it is very simple. Too many words and too much writing has been given to the world in the name of God. Consequently, we see around the land a great division in the thinking of the human being. But let us try, at least, and consider that there is something inside of us that has always been; there is something inside of us that will always be, that the Spiritualists call Infinite Intelligence. If we do not, at least, consider in our life at some time the possibility of eternal expression of consciousness, then there is no reason for us to struggle another day. Why bother to go through the trials and tribulations that beset us in creation, if there is not something better that we can attain? And if that something better that we seek to attain is not eternal, then why bother, my friends, to seek it in the first place? That is known, to me, as God.”
