Dear Friends, This week's quote is from the spiritual awareness class entitled "Common Sense Meditation Part 1," which will be published in Volume 18 of The Living Light Dialogue.
"The interest appears to be, at this time, concerned with meditation. We have found that the true purpose of meditation is to still the mind in order that the soul, the Light, the Spirit may express itself through the vehicle of form in a clear, unobstructed way. We find that this is possible when there is a great peace over the brain waves. When the mind, its energies, no longer express themselves, the soul within rises to the level known as conscious awareness and illumines the so-called mind, which is expressing through the brain. You know, my good friends, that meditation is not something to be taken lightly. The stilling of the mind is not an easy task for many students simply because they have not practiced for a sufficient time. The nature of mind is constant activity, releasing a great amount of energy. But when the mind is still, this great Power, known as God, stills our being in a perfect peace, which, my friends, you know is indeed the Power itself. . . In true meditation there is a great stillness, a great silence. There is no thought. There is no act. For God, my children, is indeed silence. Garner up the powers within your being. Place your attention on the oneness which is. We are ever, my students, what we entertain in thought. Can you not see the wisdom and the benefit of being without thought for at least a few moments in a day? You may put your house in order before confusion sets in. I mean by that statement, declare the truth in your daily meditation. Not your will, but divine will. Be receptive to its flow. But remember, we cannot be receptive to that which we are not in rapport with. Feel the freedom, the peace, the love, the light of your spirit. Still the mind. Will the thoughts to stop, and you will find your real being." The philosophy is filled with spiritual exercises and affirmations, and meditation is one of those exercises. Although everyone may not be ready for meditation, we are all learning in our own ways. Since we are changing and evolving, it is only reasonable to make the effort to consciously evolve, which is accomplished through spiritual exercises, affirmations, and selfless service.
