| Dear Friends, This week's quote is from the spiritual awareness class AWF 18, which will be published in Volume 18 of The Living Light Dialogue. This class was given on December 31, 1978, it was a forecast for the year of 1979.
"In your personal lives, look forward to the coming year. It offers to you a clear, unobstructed mirror, for it is the year of the eight, where all things return, as in cycles, unto themselves. Look at each experience objectively, peacefully, and calmly, that you may perceive the cause of all experience. And if you will look forward and make that daily effort in the coming year, you will set new laws for you into motion, and they will be beneficial and bring you a most abundant harvest of good.
In this, the cycle of eight, is that golden opportunity to demonstrate personally the greatest truth of all: the simple Law of Personal Responsibility. Take hold of those reins in this most opportune cycle that by so doing you may guide your ship of destiny into smoother waters, into the port of goodness, of abundance, of the prosperity of health, of happiness, and of wealth. If you will do that, you will not only have established new laws and experiences, you will have truly grown and perceived the lesson of life, the lesson that you came to the earth realm to perceive. In the midst of all of the seeming disasters that are around and about you, remember that your experience is dependent upon what you choose to do with your thought.
Remember, my good friends, it's your thought. Therefore, you have, by that law, the divine right to choose what you do with it. And in this cycle that you face tomorrow and for a full year, choose your thought and choose it wisely, and all that you desire, you will see the law, personally for yourself, that will bring it to you.

The philosophy is organized into many different series of classes. There are the Consciousness Classes, the Church Lectures, the Church Questions and Answers, and the Discourses, to name a few. One series is the Annual World Forecasts. Late in December Mr. Goodwin would give a class that forecast the events of the upcoming year. The above quote is from the Eighteenth Annual World Forecast for the year 1979.
The teacher once explained that forecasts were given so that students might become more aware of the laws that they were establishing personally in their own lives, as well as the laws that were being established by the society they were a part of and to help us become even more aware that our experience is dependent upon what we choose to do with our thought.
With regard to "the year of the eight," each year can be reduced to a single digit by adding all the numbers until you have arrived at single digit. So 1979 reduces to eight because 1 + 9 + 7 + 9 = 26. Then 2 + 6 = 8. In that way 1979 is an eight year. And 2021 is a five year. The philosophy also teaches that the numbers have meaning. And so, depending upon the meaning, the number of the year offers insight into what that year may offer. The meaning of numbers is discussed throughout the teachings, but a basic understanding is articulated in class CC 2, which was published in Volume 1 of The Living Light Dialogue.
