| Dear Friends, This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class that was given on November 15, 1974, and it does not have a formal name, but it will be published in Volume 18 of The Living Light Dialogue. Individual classes that were not part of a series were often not given formal names.
"So in truth we are an inseparable part of one Divinity. And if you want to communicate with someone, learn to communicate with yourselves. If you want love from another, then first set the law into motion and experience love from yourself. If you want another to forgive you, first forgive yourself. Man—you see, it is in keeping with the teachings and the philosophy—man cannot experience what he has not first accepted. So how can you experience an expression of forgiveness from another if you have not first forgiven the level of consciousness within yourself that set the law into motion in the first place?"
One of the teachings in this philosophy is that a person cannot grant to another what they have not first granted to themselves. And I see this so clearly demonstrated in certain patterns of behavior. I see it in jealousy. In order to experience jealousy, we must first deny that possibility for ourselves. The moment that we grant and accept that possibility in our consciousness for ourselves, we free ourselves from the demon of jealousy. When we grant it to ourselves, we grant it to others.
And that holds true for forgiveness as well. One of the reasons that it is often so difficult to forgive others who we feel have wronged us is that in order to forgive another, we must first forgive our own intolerance of the levels of consciousness that were expressed by the other person. As we forgive our intolerance, we experience a greater freedom and greater joy, and we also establish the law through which we may be forgiven for the expression of our many levels.
