Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Freedom from discouragement

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from class CC 241, which was published in Volume 8 of The Living Light Dialogue. It begins with a statement from a student, which is quickly followed with a question.

 


“'You mentioned discouragement is based on shadows of the past.'


Correct.


'So when one is discouraged, then [do] you need to trace it back to what, in the past, is causing that?'


Yes. That’s a fine question and requires a little discussion. Whatever we—whatever experience in our life that we deny personal responsibility for, we guarantee and establish the law for the repetition thereof. For example, if a man, in his life, experiences what he calls love with another person and experiences the pleasures and stimulation of the senses that it has to offer to the evolving animal, and change, the Law of Evolution, he crosses along that path and that which he believed for a time that he loved is no longer harmonious or in accord with him and if man, at that time, does not accept personal responsibility that it all took place, in truth, within his own consciousness, that it never was, in truth, dependent upon what another did or did not do, but was wholly and completely dependent upon how he chose to view it in keeping with what judgments, what solidified thoughts, he chose to believe in, if man, in those experiences, accepts the demonstrable law and personally expresses his own ability to state the truth, “All of this I have brought into my life. All of the seeming good, all of the seeming bad, I alone, O God, in keeping with the law, have established those experiences. They have nothing to do, in truth, with what someone else does or doesn’t do. They have to do with what I alone choose to do with the forms, the thoughts that I create in my mind,” if man accepts the truth at those times, the principle of those experiences will not repeat themselves in his life. And the benefit from that is freedom from discouragement."
