This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CC 39 , which was published in Volume 2 of The Living Light Dialogue.
“Now, we well ask, “What are the lessons that we, as individualized souls, have come to the earth realm to learn?” Life herself is revealing what your lesson is. And for each person it varies, for each person is different and has had different lessons in their prior incarnations. But you can tell what your lesson is, or combination, by looking at life and finding what are the most difficult things that you have to do or to face; because the things that are difficult for you are the lessons that you have flunked in your prior expression. You know, it’s always more difficult the second time around when we try to do something. So you can imagine what it’s like when it’s the third or the fortieth time around. And, you see, we have had this expression throughout eternity and we have merited flunking in certain lessons and passing in others.
I have spoken to some of my students on what is commonly referred to as a natural soul talent. Now our soul talents are the lessons that we passed, and passed very well in prior expression. However, in this life, as we look around and about us, ofttimes we do not use our natural soul talents. We usually think that, “Well, I really can’t make a living off of that talent” or “It would take me so many years to learn it,” little realizing that we’re like a duck to water with it, because it is a very natural, what we call talent, because we were so proficient with it in prior expression.
Now, my friends, our most difficult lessons: that is where we face things. Now for some people, it’s tolerance. For some people, it’s consistency. For all of us, it is faith. You see, this planet offers faith for use in the lessons you have to learn. Each planet offers something different. This planet offers the lesson of faith. So in the things that you find difficult, use what the planet offers. Use that faith. Because, I assure you, if we keep backing away from those so-called difficulties, they will become more difficult as life goes on; not only hereafter, but, of course, in the here and now. And I know that everyone knows what their difficulties are."
It is the difficult lessons of life, the ones we have failed so often, that offer us the greatest possibility of growth and freedom. "That which you find so difficult to tolerate is a golden opportunity for you to free yourself from the throne of judgment."
I recently came across an interesting quote from a physics professor and scientist; Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, who passed on in 1799, said, "If an angel were to tell us something of his philosophy, I do believe some of his positions would sound like 2 x 2 = 13." That was certainly my initial experience with many of the teachings of this philosophy, but with continued study and application a few of my perplexities have been clarified.
