Dear Friends,
This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CC 126, which was published in Volume 5 of The Living Light Dialogue.
“"Many words have been written and published concerning meditation and its benefits. Few words have been written concerning meditation and its detriments. Let us understand the process of meditation and concentration perhaps a little clearer than we have. When you go into your daily sitting for the purpose of concentration and peace and you are not becoming that which you are concentrating upon, in this case, peace, then realize the truth you are not letting go. Your mind is trying to control the process. Because true concentration is beyond the power and the control of the human mind, it is the human mind that must surrender and give up in order that that something, that something above and beyond the authority of the mind may manifest itself. And when you let go, you will experience true concentration, which is the key to all power. And you will experience the greatness, the beauty, and the true joy of meditation: the at-oneness with all, the essence of all. Because you are, in truth, one with the all, it is possible for you to have the experience of that allness, of that oneness. But that experience cannot come to you until you, through your surrender of the authority and superiority of your mind, let go and let God in.
God, this divine intelligent energy, cannot enter your being in its fullness until you, the identity, get out of the way. Man is an identifying, intelligent being and whatever man identifies with, he becomes a part thereof in creation. It is because man has given the mental process, known as “identifying,” power over him, man has scattered his true power—the true power being concentration.
And so when man strives to do anything, in his striving there is untold millions of distracting forms in the ethereal waves. They are there in keeping with the Law of Association. Those are the things, my good students, we all have to evolve through. You know how you feel when you are truly relaxed.
You know how good you truly feel. But you also know that you are not able, you think, to have that experience of goodness and allness at your own choosing. But you can. You can if you will truly concentrate and truly meditate."
