Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into selfless service

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness CC 38, which was published in Volume 2 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 

 

"At times, Now any time you have a class or a course of awareness, it is not going to be pleasing to certain levels of consciousness, because we have to face ourselves, if we truly want to grow and to be free and to fulfill the purpose of our soul entering this earth realm. Now there are many ways, and we have discussed before the multitude of ways that our mind will use in order to gain the attention or the energy, which, of course, is the love that we are seeking. But a path is shown through this course whereby you may receive all of the energy or love that you need. And the path is the simplest path of all: it’s known as selfless service.

Now many people, seemingly, do not understand, or at least they state they do not understand, what selfless service really means. When you do anything in life that is not motivated by a desire for self-gain, then you are expressing a degree of selfless service. A person might say, “Well, there isn’t anything I do, not even going to the grocery store, that is not for myself.” Well, if you’re on that level of consciousness and you wish to make a change from it—that you are not pleased or satisfied with your life experiences at this particular point in time—then there are many different things that you can do to be freed from the self-orientation or the prison house which your soul is locked in.

And a fine exercise that was given some time ago—and I’ll be happy to share it again—is, in the course of each waking hour, to make a little note of how many of your thoughts and your motivations were truly self-oriented and how many of them were not. You see, my friends, this will help you to become aware of yourselves. And this is the purpose of this class: to help you, as individuals, to find out who you really are, by your own personal efforts and your own personal demonstration to yourself. I am sure that many will be amazed, if they’ll make that effort each hour of a day, to find out just what it is that is truly motivating their thoughts and their acts."

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into criticism

"At times, along the path of study and application in this type of class work—which is, in truth, of course, a self‑awareness process—there is a tendency, with some people, to become critical of the levels through which they are trying to rise above. Now, I’m sure we will all agree that criticism, of course, is an expression of a level known as intolerance. And intolerance is not a soul faculty. And the thing not tolerated, of course, will befall us in order that we may be granted the understanding of it. So we find from that teaching and application that it is not beneficial to oneself to criticize, which is being intolerant of the levels that we’re having difficulty in trying to grow through. Now that applies to one individual personally. It certainly applies to all individuals collectively. If we find the need to repeatedly or constantly criticize anything outside of ourselves, then what we are, in truth, doing is expressing an intolerance of the level inside of ourselves, which, in time, will guarantee that level of consciousness to be attached to our life expression and experience."

 

And so, as it is with all our experiences, even our need to criticize others, everything is inside.

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into procrastination

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness A/V Seminar 6, which will soon be published in Volume 12 of The Living Light Dialogue. This is an exchange between a student, whose words are italicized, and the teacher, whose words are in roman font.

 

"Thank you. You take an experience like procrastination . . .

Yes?

That’s blocking the way to something. Is the way to eliminate that to accept it or to understand why it is being created?

Thank you. We cannot understand what we do not first accept. For if we do not first accept that we alone have created the obstruction, then we cannot understand it for we do not qualify our self to understand what we do not first accept.

So first we accept that we have experienced and perhaps recently experienced what we know as procrastination. Do you understand? Now by accepting that we have experienced that, by accepting that we have created it, we begin on the path to understand the motive, the law established, that expresses itself in what we understand to be procrastination. In other words, we want to do something, we know that we should, but we put it off. What it reveals is other priorities, other forms, rise up and convince us that we are those forms, and that that over there, which we know we should be doing, well, that’s not as important at this time. Do you understand that? Well, those are forms created by our mind which have convinced us, and we believe that we must do this or that in order to experience what we believe we need to experience in our tomorrows. Did that help with your question?

So, you see, by accepting, “Fine. I have procrastinated. I didn’t want to, but I did.” By accepting it, we begin to understand it. For we cannot understand what we do not accept. Would you not agree?

Yes.

You see, there is nothing in life, in creation, that we can understand until we first accept. Because we cannot honestly examine, analyze, and study what we do not first accept. And so we find our self in many schools and many different philosophies, and there is a little bit of us that accepts. Well, if we make the effort, and the Law of Continuity will reveal to us, from that small acorn and from our effort of continuity, that little acorn starts getting bigger and starts to grow. And someday we take a look and we [say], “My, what a great tree that has become. Now it will serve me well.” And it always does.

So there is nothing wasted in life. Everything is serving a purpose. It is serving the purpose of its original motive, which is the law of its design."

In CC 48, the teacher explains that procrastination is the theft of all time.

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Where the problem is

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness A/V Seminar 2, which will soon be published in Volume 12 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 

"You see, all things are the effect of energy, whether it’s a glass or the flower, the human or the plant. The ant or the angel is an effect of intelligent, infinite Energy. Only an effect. The form is an effect. For we are formless and free, the goodness of life. Everything else is an effect. Now we have, flowing through us, an abundance of this infinite, intelligent Energy in keeping with what obstructions are in the way. You see, [when] we pause and we’re still in our consciousness, then we are receptive to the fullness of this infinite, intelligent Energy. [When] we permit activity of our mind, an obstruction moves between us and this infinite, intelligent Energy that we are making the effort to be receptive to. And so man has his money problems; he has his sex problems; he has his ego problems because all of these obstructions, you see, he’s permitting to get in the way. And that’s where all the problem is."

The only thing that prevents us from experiencing the goodness and the joy of life, the goodness that we in truth are, is the thoughts that we often believe that we are. Our thoughts and our belief that we are those things are the only obstruction to becoming consciously aware of our own divinity. Heaven, which is a state of being that we are all growing to, is only a thought away.
