Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: A path inward

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness CC 32, which was published in Volume 2 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 

"When I face an experience—whether it’s on a job, whether it’s something that is disorganized or whether it’s emotion, no matter what it is—the number one question to entertain in thought is, “Why this and why now?” The experience is an effect. Now, say that we go onto a job and our desk is piled heaping with disorganized papers and etc. Now the mind usually says, “That person is very disorganized. I just don’t know how I merited that individual.” But we have to go beyond that. We have to see that this is an effect. “That person is only instrumental in presenting disorganization to me. That is giving me a golden opportunity to organize myself.”

Now if a disorganized experience repeats itself in our universe, what it means is, in some area in our universe, we are disorganized. Now, you see, where the mind gets deluded. It says, “Well, I’m not disorganized. I have all my papers neat and etc.” That’s the delusion, because we’re trying to relate it specifically, instead of by principle. If the experience of disorganization keeps hitting us, that reveals to us on a level of consciousness we are disorganized. If it is a great disorganization, that is how disorganized we are on that level of consciousness.

Now, how do we find out what level of consciousness that is? It’s very simple. When you have the experience of these disorganized papers, ask yourself, “How does it affect me? Does it make me angry? Does it affect my emotions? Do I get upset?” Now, if that is how we react, that reveals the level of consciousness that we are disorganized on. Isn’t that beautiful? So you see, every day we are being taught. Whether we like it or not, we are being taught. The effect reveals the level of consciousness where we need growth. And you have that whether you go to the supermarket or you’re on the telephone or you’re driving your car. No matter where you go, the effect, my friends, reveals the level of consciousness where organization or growth is needed within."

 

The philosophy is filled with spiritual exercises to help us awaken and enjoy a greater goodness and a greater harmony in life. But it is up to us to make the effort to apply those exercises.

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Insight into relationships

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness CQA 13, which was published in Volume 10 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 

"Some time ago in counseling with a married couple when they came to my home, the wife said she brought her husband because he had a problem. The Spirit revealed to her at that time, “Your husband has no problem.” She said, “Oh, yes, he has a problem: he drinks.” I asked the man, “Does your drinking bother you? Does it create for you a problem?” And he said no. I said, “You see, ma’am, it is evident that you have the problem, for it bothers you.” And that that bothers us in life, controls us. That is the Law of Personal Responsibility. Now if a man and his wife are having problems, you must go to the one who is having the problem, to the one who is bothered. That’s the only way you can ever help them. Because the one who is bothered is the one who is controlled. And the one who is controlled is the victim—the victim, my friends, of their own judgments.

How do people get along? It’s very simple: accept the Law of Personal Responsibility. That that is around you will grow or go, for the law is very clear: like attracts like and becomes the Law of Attachment. What so few people realize is that our adversities in life become attachments, that our attachments in life become adversities. It is the divine law, in order that we may experience the freedom which is our right. And so we have people, they marry, and they divorce. And they marry again, and they divorce again. They come, and they go, because they move from attachment to adversity to attachment to adversity, until finally, finally we accept personal responsibility. Take a look at life, here. Take a good look. One moment we love them, the next moment we hate them, and we move back and forth constantly. We love them when they do what we want them to do. We hate them when they don’t do what we want them to do. My good friends, when you desire to control another, you establish the law in the universe to be controlled. And when we are bothered, we know we are controlled.

And so the great circle of life, the great, clear, beautiful reason of life, clearly states all things shall return unto their source. It is only when we become aware that we, indeed, are the source and that that is returning unto us we are not happy with. Instead of growing up and accepting responsibility as adults, we react with the trauma of little children.

How beautiful life is, if we permit our self to accept it. There is no limit. There is no shortage. There is no struggle until we make it so. God did not make it so. And because God, the divine Neutral Intelligence, didn’t make it, God can’t take it. Only the created gods, the gods that we have created (the “Santa Claus” gods) can give and take. Let us use our simple, reasoning faculty. If we believe that God is a giver and we believe that God is a taker, what a miserable life we have to live, for we look around the world and see, “That one has everything. I have most nothing. God has given them all of that. What kind of a God am I believing in?” My friends, awaken. God gives nothing, and God takes nothing. The law, the law that we set into motion, that one, that is what gives, and that is what takes. Unfortunately, frequently we forget that the Divine Spirit is flowing through everything.

If we have difficulty with people, if we have difficulty with communication, the only difficulty is that we do not communicate with our self."

 

Recently a member emailed a question about relationships. This quote is in response to that email. Mr. Goodwin also once said that our meaningful relationships have a tendency to become meaningful in ways we did not originally intend.

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: The power of acceptance

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness CL 79, which was published in Volume 9 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 

"Our responsibility in life is indeed very great, for we are, by the right of our evolution, the examples to all of life. We cannot take those responsibilities lightly, for each harmonious thought that we have in our mind sends a healing balm out into the universe and has a direct effect upon all of nature, from the blade of grass to the human being. And not only does it go out across the earth realm, but out into outer space affecting untold multitudes of intelligent beings.

So when you find yourself limited, restricted, in what is known as self-thought, remember that your world is shrinking and someday it will shrink, by that law of self-thought, to the point where you will give it up. And when you reach that so-called bottom, you will begin the path of rising again to broaden not only your horizons, but the goodness of your life.

Whatever it is that you have or have not, remember, your thought concerning it is sustained and supported by the same intelligent Energy that will bring you something better. But that can only happen when you open the door of opportunity, and the door of opportunity is opened by your own choice, by your own acceptance. For each denial that you set into consciousness closes the doors of opportunity that are waiting to open. It is our dictates that send us on our destiny, through the path of denial.

Whatever you want or whatever you are experiencing that you don’t want, remember, you have choice. You can change it. You may change it not by rejection and denial, that will only keep it in your universe, year after year and century after century. You can change it by first accepting its right of existence and, in so accepting, accept the right of something better and something greater. And I can assure you, my friends, if you will do that, if you will do that each and every day, that infinite, intelligent Energy called God will support your new choice. And you will indeed experience the goodness, the success, the abundance of a joyous life."

 

We change the world by changing our thoughts, which is often not so easily done. Although it is often not so easy to change our thoughts and our attitudes, they can never be greater than we are, for we created them. In time, with consistent effort, even the most adamant thought will bow. And I find that very encouraging.

Serenity's Weekly Spiritual Quote: Be transformed

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

This week's quote is from spiritual awareness CC 195, which was published in Volume 7 of The Living Light Dialogue.

 

"As we come to the conclusion of this semester, in the few weeks ahead, let us make a choice. Let us choose the greatness and the goodness of life. Let us not choose it once, for once is not enough. For we have chosen the opposite so many times. Let us choose the greatness and goodness and the fullness of life. Let us choose it each and every moment again and again and again and again, that we may live in a world and experience the demonstrable truth of the very philosophy that we study. For that, my friends, is the application thereof.

No greater service can you do to yourself, to this philosophy, to truth, and to the world in which you live and the worlds of which you are yet to be consciously aware, no greater good can you do than apply the philosophy that you are studying, that works beyond a shadow of any doubt the moment you choose it to work. It teaches the freedom from want, need, and desire. It teaches the abundant goodness of life. Do yourself, my students, that service. That is your birthright. That is your birthright.

The thoughts that dictate the opposite are not what this philosophy is all about.

Demonstrate what you study. Demonstrate it every moment of your life. Declare your right to the fulfillment of your own being that you may go forth in the world the living demonstration of truth, that in the midst of the Philistines you declare the truth, “I accept the personal responsibility of my thought. I accept the personal responsibility of my experience. For it is my experience. The cause is not another. The cause is not the world, for I am the world. I and I alone am the cause and the cure.” Accept that truth, in that moment, ye shall be transformed. And to remain transformed into the fullness of life, repeat the truth until no other thought floods your consciousness and you will be the living demonstration of an abundant goodness, known as God."
