Insight into attachment

View this email in your browser Dear Friends, This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class A/V CP 8, which will soon be published in Volume 14 of The Living Light Dialogue. "You see, the loss of anything, when we register a loss in our consciousness, it is ever dependent upon what our attachment is. You see, the greater the attachment, the greater the suffering from the loss. So if we permit our self to overly attach to anything or anyone, we guarantee the payment for that attachment. And that we call a loss. What has happened, you see, when you attach to anything, you depend on it for your survival. So the more you permit yourself to attach to anything or anyone, the greater is your bondage from your own dependence. Now that dependence grows as you deny what you are, and you become and you believe what you are not. For example, a person [is] attracted to someone; their senses register satisfaction. And unless they're very careful, they will begin to strengthen their belief of experiencing good or God from the person. You understand that. Well, as they strengthen that bondage of belief, they guarantee the ending of it or the loss of it. Now the loss of something is—the loss of one thing is ever the freedom of something else. You've surely had those experiences in life. So each loss and the experience of what the senses call suffering and pain should be looked at by creating, at those times, an electric thought form. As you create an electric thought form, you free yourself not only from the dependence, the suffering, and the struggle, you don't create another magnetic form."   My experience reveals to me that I am often unaware of how attached I am to people, places, and things, at least until they leave my life. Then I become intensely aware of my attachments that are taking their flight from my life. But that is how I have chosen to learn those lessons. There is no divine law that requires that I form my many attachments; it is just my error of ignorance. It seems to me that attachments are a form of denial of the goodness that we all are, which, as I understand these teachings, is a denial of the Principle of Goodness. In time, our attachments are removed from our lives in order that we may awaken that the goodness of life is not dependent upon any person, place, thing, or even thought. Insight into complaining

View this email in your browser Dear Friends, This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CC 60, which was published in Volume 3 of The Living Light Dialogue. "We have stated many times that this world, and all worlds, are ever as you make it and they are indeed just the way you take it. So we've made our world the way we are this moment. We might as well take it and in so doing make whatever changes are necessary. It will do no good to complain, for complaining, my friends, is an expression of ingratitude. And gratitude is the Law of Divine, Abundant Supply. So if you're complaining, it means there's something you desire that you don't have. And so you stay on the wheel of delusion by complaining, because complaining is ingratitude—the opposite of gratitude—and closes the door of eternal supply. Now, we've taught this same law for many, many years: Be grateful for the crumb; you will guarantee the loaf. Don't you see, my friends, what we do to ourselves? When we complain, we are declaring. We are speaking a word out into the atmosphere. The word is life-giving energy. The word, my friend, is the law. Think about it. Man is a law unto himself. The word is the law. For untold centuries, humanity has been taught that great truth. And yet, it seems it has not yet got to that level of consciousness where it can accept that great truth. So do yourself a great favor. The thing that you are seeking knows your face and is already on its way to your heart if you do not transgress the divine, natural law. When you say, "I don't have this and I don't have that," you set that law into motion. You express that ingratitude and you continue on without what you are truly seeking. But if you say, "Thank you, God. I have the crumb of my desire," you will set the Law of Abundant Supply into motion, and it shall go out into the universe and it shall increase and multiply. Some people call that positive thinking. But I assure you, it's a lot more than positive thinking. It's known as acceptance. That is the divine will. If you accept that truth in your consciousness, then you will be in a position to demonstrate its immutable law."   The more we are aware of our thoughts, the more we are aware of where we are in consciousness, the more wisely we may choose which thoughts we truly desire to entertain. For thoughts are very important. Much more important than many realize. And happy Mother's Day. Fascination and the sense to pause

View this email in your browser Dear Friends, This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class CC 162, which has just been published in Volume 6 of The Living Light Dialogue. "Fascination is the demonstration of the Law of Greed. Think, my good students, about what you experience when you fascinate. You create a form and forms. And they change and they move and you create more forms. And you're never satisfied with the forms you create. You always find a flaw and there's always a constant, constant insatiable need for more and more and more. And so the mind continues on and on and on and on and on. It's never filled. And so it fascinates and it fascinates and it fascinates. And the soul never gets in, because the mind is in total control. And the mind is constantly utilizing the energy to create more forms and different forms. And so the soul is void, for the soul is not expressing. The soul is not in balance. There are no faculties expressed. And so fascination and greed go hand in hand. And it's never enough. There is no gratitude, for there is nothing to be grateful for. For there is constant, constant more and more and more. When a person has a desire and the desire is being fulfilled, there should be a moment of pause. For in the pause does man experience the soul faculty of gratitude, in that moment of pause. But in fascination, there is no pause. There is just the constant, constant utilizing of energy to create so many mental forms. And you know it's never enough. It's never enough. Think, my students. Think what self offers. It's never enough. No matter what you have or have not, it's never enough. And so let us pause more often. Let us enjoy the moment to pause. Let us be grateful for the ability to pause, for in the pause, you experience your true being. You're freed from the processes of fascination. You're freed from need and need and need that grows and grows and grows and grows. Pause, my students. Pause more often. Stop the wheels in your mind from turning. Learn to pause a few moments every hour. Pause as often as you can, for when you pause, you enter the life eternal. In that stillness, in that pause, you experience all of life. Nothing is left out when you truly pause."   Unless we become more aware of the tendencies of our minds, like how easy it is to become fascinated by our technological devices, we will continue to be controlled by that vehicle of expression. Either we make the effort to control our minds or our minds control us. The problem with our minds controlling us is that the strongest thought of the moment often dictates our reactions to our present. One of our jobs, it seems to me, is to free ourselves from past experiences in order that we may not be limited in our expression to reactions that have almost become automatic, but rather respond in the light of reason and common sense to our experiences and enjoy the goodness of life. Do not look outside

View this email in your browser Dear Friends, This week's quote is from spiritual awareness class A/V Seminar 34, which has just been published in Volume 13 of The Living Light Dialogue. "Whoever looks without for fulfillment is destined to grief and sadness. Because you must realize that like attracts like. If you look without for happiness, you will attract someone who is looking without for happiness. So they will look at you with a microscope and sooner or later they will find a defect. And it's over. Until the next time. So try to understand if you're looking without, whether it be for emotional stability, a relationship, material substance, then you are only going to attract that type of person. The law fulfills itself. Now you may say, "Well, now this person's a very nice person," and find, surely, they are. But you must ask yourself the question, "Was I looking without for happiness and fulfillment when I met this person?" Well, if you were, the law fulfilled itself. You found a person now that is looking outside, denying inside, and looking outside for fulfillment. Well, the only thing they're going to find, after they blink their eyes a few times and put you under the microscope, is a defect. And then they'll go and look someplace else, you see. Because as long as you look without for what you think you need, you are still under the control of the destiny of denial. Don't look outside for what you want to experience inside. Look inside for what you want and you will find it. Stop looking outside for what you think you want. Look inside, and you will have that fulfillment as quickly as you honestly look inside because it's all there. It was never anyplace else. For outward manifestations are only revelations of inner attitudes of mind. Look inside for everything you desire, for everything you desire has always been inside of you. You will not find it outside. You will only find like kind that's doing the same thing in the error of ignorance."   Our experiences have been brought to us by us. And in the experiences that we have merited, through the laws that we have established, we have the opportunity to awaken to something greater. We are greater than what we believe we are.
